Physical Education
Overview
The PE Programme develops students’ psychomotor and games skills, equips them with the knowledge and attitudes to pursue and enjoy a physically active and healthy lifestyle.
Students develop and maintain physical health and fitness through regular participation in physical activities and acquire safe practices during physical activities. They also demonstrate the spirit of fair play, teamwork and sportsmanship.
Programmes
Physical Health and Fitness Education
PHF is a component of the PE Programme where students acquire knowledge and skills to empower them to lead healthy lifestyles and take responsibility for the health and well-being of others and the environment. They exhibit good health habits and practise good nutrition.
SwimSafer Programme
Swimming is part of the PE curriculum. Students will acquire basic swimming skills and water safety awareness and gain water confidence. By the end of Primary 6, students would have gone through 8 swimming lessons. Each lesson will last for 1.5 hours. Qualified swimming coaches will conduct the swimming lessons at a Swimming Complex. Teachers will accompany the students and ensure their safety.
At the end of the course, each child will be tested and only those who pass both the theory and practical tests will be awarded. Those who have already attained SwimSafer Stage 1 proficiency before attending this programme will learn the skills for the next stage.
Outdoor Education
P3 and P6 students will go on Learning Journeys to nature reserves to:
gain awareness and appreciation of the natural environment
experience and enjoy hiking in a nature reserve
learn social emotional skills and build character
P5 students will attend a 3-Day/2 Night adventure camp to:
learn outdoor skills and enjoy outdoor activities;
gain awareness and appreciation of the natural environment;
develop teamwork, responsibility, resilience and confidence
Athletic Meet and Lower Primary Games
The Annual Athletic Meet aims to promote participation in sports and character development. All P3 to P6 students will attend House Practices during school hours at the beginning of the year. This is followed by the Heats, and then the Finals at a Sports Stadium where all P3 to P6 students are expected to take part.
The Lower Primary Games is a mini-sports meet for P1 and P2 students to enjoy sports and games as they compete with others in relays and challenges.
